UNESCO Isla Espiritu Santo Ocean Safari + Glamping Experience
UNESCO Espiritu Santo tours: island adventures & ocean safaris
Discover the Sea of Cortez like never before on a multi-day ocean safari and glamping experience at UNESCO Isla Espíritu Santo, Baja Mexico — one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on Earth.
There is nowhere quite like it. A UNESCO-protected wilderness where volcanic cliffs melt into white sand beaches, turquoise bays teem with marine life, and the most celebrated sea lion colony in Mexico waits just offshore.
The Sea of Cortez is the stage. Isla Espíritu Santo is where the cast — sea lions, whales, mobula rays, dolphins, and even orcas — puts on its finest show.
Explore in style by 48-ft fast boat on daily ocean safaris, snorkel with playful sea lions, kayak along hidden coves, and tour the area’s most beautiful beaches.
After a day on the water, return to a zero-footprint glamping camp right on the shore. Real beds, en-suite tents, gourmet dining on the beach — this is a wild experience without compromising on comfort.

A sea full of life—but the sea lions steal the show
Nearly 40% of the world’s marine mammal species are found in the waters of the Sea of Cortez — and Isla Espíritu Santo sits at the heart of it.
The island’s mosaic of reefs, sandy bays, and deep open-water channels creates conditions for an extraordinary concentration of marine life. Spring means migration season, with April and May bringing the most dynamic, dramatic wildlife encounters.
Vast schools of mobula rays, humpback, blue, and fin whales pass through the channel. Dolphins are constant companions on the water, riding the bow wave and playing to their audience with joyful leaps. Whale sharks can make an appearance, and an occasional, albeit spectacular, bonus — orcas.
The sea lion colony at Los Islotes, off the northern tip of the archipelago, is a beloved highlight. California sea lions, especially the pups, are playful, curious, and utterly at ease with visitors, making snorkeling and freediving encounters genuinely unforgettable.
Respectful marine life encounters
Expert naturalist guides lead all wildlife experiences and operate in full compliance with Mexican marine wildlife regulations — ensuring every encounter is safe, respectful, and deeply memorable.
Possible wildlife sightings:
- Vast groups of mobula rays

La Paz hotel stay and glamping on Espíritu Santo Island

Modern elegance in the heart of La Paz
Your La Paz base is Hotel Catedral — a well-positioned boutique property in the heart of the historic centre, steps from the Malecón and the waterfront. The rooftop infinity pool and bar offer a sweeping view across the cathedral and out toward the bay: the best place to end a day on the water. Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, with private bathrooms and complimentary WiFi throughout.
Glamping on Espíritu Santo: your base for adventure
There are few places in the world where you can fall asleep to the sound of the sea and wake to dolphins on the horizon. Glamping on Espíritu Santo’s beautiful beaches is one of them. Our zero-footprint camp sits right on the shore — designed to leave no trace while giving you every comfort. A large open-air awning provides a shaded social space for the group: the place where sunset drinks turn into dinner, and dinner turns into stargazing. The night skies out here are a spectacle in themselves. And when you need a hot shower or air conditioning after a day on the water, the mothership has you covered. Our fully equipped 50-ft support vessel is anchored just offshore, a short RIB ride away.
The camp operates with permission of the National Park Service as a temporary, low-impact installation. Generators are not permitted on the island — lighting and charging stations are solar-powered. CPAPs can be accommodated in camp with advance notice.
Each spacious tent is specially engineered for the Baja climate: flow-through ventilation, double-reflecting fly shade, and battery-powered swamp coolers keep the interior a full 15–20°F cooler than outside. Inside, fine linens, a real bed (queen or twin configuration), and a private en-suite camp bathroom with toilet and freshwater basin. No air mattresses. No compromises. Kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkelling equipment are included and ready whenever you are. And when the day winds down, treat yourself to a massage in our dedicated massage tent. The mothership provides hot showers, air conditioning, a well-provisioned galley, watermaker, Starlink internet, and 24-hour power — everything you need, never far away.
